A man who spiked sweets with sedative and gave them to children at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two children aged nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight children and one adult became sick at Stathern Lodge in July.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.
However, he denied one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer program which he operated.
The man played a "candy game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She said the defendant had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.
The prosecutor continued: "In the summer" his family member had worries about what was going on, justifiably.
"They resolved" to have a look in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor said items including infant oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were located, and his stepchild notified the authorities about his concerns.
She explained Ruben proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six boys that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she continued.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the situation.
The legal representative said the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the family member called the police again.
She explained Ruben then played the "treat game" in a area of five children.
